Deliver Effective Math Intervention with Reflex
Ensure all your students have the tools to catch up, keep up, and stay ahead with ExploreLearning Reflex. Reflex is the most effective solution for any student that needs to build math fact fluency.
Reflex has been used in thousands of classrooms around the world to successfully support students at grade level, at risk, and with special needs. Access our research-based math intervention tools to accelerate math achievement and bridge potential learning gaps.
Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tier approach to identify and help struggling students. The goal of RTI is to intervene and provide students with the support they need so they can succeed academically.
RTI has three tiers to support students’ needs.
What is RTI (Response to Intervention)?
Tier 1: Whole Group
Tier 1 refers to all students in the general education classroom. At this tier, all students receive a research-based core program. Teachers monitor student progress through assessment, classroom assignments, and more.
Tier 2: Small Group Intervention
Tier 2 intervention is provided to students who aren’t making progress in Tier 1. In this tier, students may be instructed in small groups two to three times a week. Students in Tier 2 still receive Tier 1 support. Teachers continue to monitor student progress.
Tier 3: Intensive Intervention
If students still struggle after Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions, they are moved to the most intensive intervention—Tier 3. At Tier 3, students typically receive individual instruction. Because students at Tier 3 are the most at risk, teachers closely monitor progress.
How Reflex Helps students with dyscalculia (math dyslexia)
Dyscalculia, informally known as math dyslexia, is a learning disability that impairs a student's ability to learn number-related concepts.
Reflex provides students with dyscalculia a safe environment to learn and practice math facts at their own pace. Our multisensory game-based program motivates students with dyscalculia to take on math facts, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Frax offers additional support for students with dyscalculia. Frax teaches fractions through visual aids and representations, such as block models and number lines, which helps students with dyscalculia retain information. Plus with Frax, students have the opportunity to communicate their understanding of math concepts.
Reflex serves students at any intervention tier so all learners can thrive in school and beyond. Through individualized and adaptive activities, Reflex helps students master foundational math skills all while building confidence. Plus, our program provides automated reporting for every student, so teachers can identify and address individual learning gaps as soon as possible.
Reflex: A Math Intervention Program
Tier 1
Implement our research-based math solution school-wide, so all students can develop math fact fluency and automaticity.
Tier 2
Use Reflex in small group instruction for students lacking math fact fluency.
Tier 3
Provide one-on-one coaching with Reflex for students behind one or more grade levels.
Reflex along with Frax, our latest fractions solution, utilize evidence-based strategies to support students at all intervention levels. With Reflex and Frax students will have access to:
How Reflex closes the achievement gap
Extensive research shows that math fact fluency is one of the strongest indicators of future math success—uniquely predicting students’ standardized test scores and participation in career and college-prep math coursework, such as Algebra. Reflex uses research-proven methods and innovative technology to provide the most effective math fact fluency solution available.
In fact, students who use Reflex are scoring higher and growing faster at math skills than their peers. The fourth largest school district, Miami-Dade, saw tremendous learning gains after implementing Reflex. Miami-Dade fourth-grade students who used Reflex saw an increase in their National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) scores—surpassing the national average.
